To put it simply: ‘Built To Last’ is so good it that highlights why so many bands playing pop punk these days feel dull and derivative. Sure, Rivalries can do angelic vocal harmonies and huge choruses but there’s also a subtle interplay between the two guitars and an inventiveness in the rhythm section that raises this three track EP above most modern fare. Lyrically it’s emotional without being whiney and socially conscious without being preachy and the tunes themselves mix originality with a healthy understanding that a punk rock record is no place for a jazz odyssey.
‘Built To Last’ is for discerning fans of that classic So-Cal sound who don't like the So-Cal accent and all of us here at SBS HQ are more than stoked to have this as our first release.
